1. Applications of Trignometry
Applications of Trigonometry
🔹 What are Applications of Trigonometry?
Applications of trigonometry mean using trigonometric ratios to solve real-life problems.
Instead of directly measuring heights or distances, we use:
-
Angles
-
Right-angled triangles
-
Trigonometric ratios (sin, cos, tan)
🔹 Angle of Elevation
The angle of elevation is the angle formed when we look upwards from the ground to an object.
Examples:
-
Looking at the top of a building
-
Looking at the top of a tower
-
Looking at the top of a tree
🔹 Real-Life Examples
Trigonometry is used to find:
-
Height of a tower or building
-
Height of a tree using its shadow
-
Height reached by a ladder on a wall
All these problems can be converted into a right-angled triangle.
🔹 Key Idea
-
Height → opposite side
-
Distance on ground → adjacent side
-
Angle given → use tan θ
