An adjective is a describing word.
It tells us more about a noun such as its color, size, number, or feeling.

Examples:

  • a red apple

  • a big dog

  • a happy child

Adjectives can come:

  • Before a nouna blue ball

  • After “is/are”The ball is blue.

Types of Adjectives

  • Color: red, green, yellow

  • Size: big, small, tall

  • Number: one, two, many

  • Feeling: happy, sad, excited

Remember

  • Noun = naming word

  • Verb = action word

  • Adjective = describing word

Example sentence:
The small dog is happy.

Adjectives make our sentences clear, colorful, and interesting.
